RE: Is it time for reform of NCAA policies?

Greetings All,
I think it is past time to reform policies of the NCAA! I think that our nation allows it to flourish due to the high level of entertainment. However, we have forgotten about the well being of others. The arguement is another that hinges itself on "Wall-street" neglecting the opinion of "Main Street".
The many athletes that would have, should have, could have are analogist to the nations drop out rates. How many coaches have gone back on their campaign promises when recruiting? How many coaches and programs turn blind eyes to boosters? How many injuries hinder post collegiate careers in industries that are not athletics? What are the psychological measures taken to support student-athletes? Is there a proper balance of academia and athletics; specifically, do athletes have access to the same disciplines? For example, most instutions have ways for students to participate athletically, like intramural sports, gym class, etc. However, athletes often have to miss classes due practice, plaguing on time graduation rates? How do we screen to ensure that we are not setting athletes up for academic failure at their incoming institution? How many athletic jobs are available post college? How many athletes finish with no degrees?
The fact that the NCAA has major stakeholder they will never lose to the constituents of children since this is who the whore on a daily basis. I would encourage referencing "The Forty Million Dollar Slave" by Nikki Giovanni.
