Author Walter Dean Myers was recently named Ambassador to Young People’s Literature by the Library of Congress on Jan. 10. Rock Center caught up with Myers on one of his first days on the job at a school in Harlem, NY. Author of more than 100 books, including the best-selling “Monster,” Myers explains why his job – and reading itself – is not “optional.”
