Justice Stephen Breyer appeared at the Aspen Ideas Festival last week to talk about what makes democracy work and what makes it fail. We talked with him after he had lunch with a group of high school students to ask him the age-old question: Why do we have to learn history?
Watch the video below for a Supreme Court opinion on that question. He also gave us some insight into how he thinks the country’s education system is doing today, why we all need to take civics class, and why it’s so important for judges and lawyers to sit down and talk to students.
